Keukenhof

keukonKeukenhof which in Dutch means Kitchen Garden meaning as flower garden located in Lisse, Netherlands. Keukenhof is one of the world’s largest flower garden. There are seven million flowers planted in the park once a year (according to official website of Keukenhof park) which made it to be one of the largest flower garden.

Keukenhof is located precisely in South Holland, among the city Hillegom and Lisse, south of Haarlem and southwest of Amsterdam. And can be reached by bus from the bus station Haarlem or Leiden. The park is located in the area called Duin en Bollenstreek.

The garden was created in 1949 by candidates for mayor of Lisse, which is a small town near Amsterdam. Namely to create an exhibition of flower to flower growers around the Netherlands and Europe could show off flowers that would help the Netherlands as the world’s largest flower exporter. Within 50 years Keukenhof has become a world’s largest flower garden.

Keukenhof is opened once a year in the last week of March to mid May. The best time to view the tulips is mid-April, depending on the weather.
